Peter C. Hickey Co-Founder and Managing Director

Peter Hickey is a co-founder of Peregrine Economics and a Managing Director in the firm’s Securities, Financial Regulation and Valuation & General Damages practices. Peter has over 26 years of experience as a consultant and expert on hundreds of matters. He has a national practice and is regularly retained to offer opinions on business valuation, financial markets and complex economic damages, including work for the SEC, FINRA and the Illinois Attorney General. Peter has been actively involved in analyzing trading activity and assessing economic loss in financial markets litigation and regulatory matters, including allegations of securities and commodities fraud, insider trading and other market manipulation, breach of fiduciary duty, broker dealer litigation, failed mergers and acquisitions and shareholder disputes. He has assisted with several high-profile internal investigations and insurance coverage matters involving a variety of securities and commodities markets.

Peter has been retained as an expert in alternative dispute resolution and his opinions have been cited by courts related to investment funds’ application and adherence to fair value accounting rules, including the Investment Company Act and ASC 820. Recently, Peter has also worked as an expert and consultant in several large stakes trust and estate cases and family law matters involving complex asset allocation and valuation issues. Prior to Peregrine, Peter was a Principal at Global Economics Group and a Vice President at Chicago Partners, LLC. He has testified as an expert witness in federal and state court proceedings as well as several arbitrations. Over the course of his career, Peter has also cultivated and supported a vast network of academic and industry affiliate experts in a variety of cases across the country.

Mr. Hickey has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Georgetown University and an MBA with concentrations in Accounting and Finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
